Course Overview

This course will raise participants’ awareness of their responsibilities in relation to the Public Service Values and Code of Conduct and increase their understanding of them. Participants will develop skills in identifying and resolving ethical problems and values-tensions, and in applying a decision-making tool. The workshop also addresses processes for reporting unethical behaviour.

After attending this course participants will gain an increased understanding of Public Service Values and Code of Conduct. They will be able to develop strategies for:

  • Identifying ethical/ values problems
  • Supporting others to develop ethical judgement
  • Skills in using a decision-making tool
  • Knowledge of processes for reporting unethical behaviour

Target Audience

Designed for Public Service employees at the 1 – 6 level.

May be conducted as an introductory session for employees new to the Public Service or it may be a follow-up to induction training where the values are introduced.
